POST 68 LEGION RIDERS DONATE TO BOYS AND GIRLS HOME

The American Legion Riders, a passionate group of motorcycle enthusiasts under the American Legion, are deeply committed to their local communities. Among the many services they provide to veterans and their families, their charitable work is particularly noteworthy. Recently, several members of the Legion Riders from the John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 Leland visited the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina (BGHNC) to present a check donation for $500. Mr. Ray Cockrell, Chief Mission Officer, accepted the check on behalf of the BGHNC. Since 1954, BGHNC has served as a safe place for young people who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or other family dysfunction. The BGHNC provides a continuum of care to meet the physical, emotional, mental, behavioral, social, educational, and spiritual needs of children and families in distress or at risk at its idyllic campus at Lake Waccamaw. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, BGHNC depends upon the support of civic organizations from across the Carolinas and other philanthropic donations to help meet its mission of providing essential services to at-risk children and families. For those who want to participate, members gather at 4:30 pm in Blossoms Restaurant for dinner and a social hour preceding the meeting. The next meeting date is Thursday, November 21, 2024.
