New Years Message from Post Commander

Town of Leland

The New Year is coming in less than 18 hours from this original writing. I wish all members of our Post a successful and healthy 2023.

Your post has done well in our community, largely because of your contributions to the service of our events.  I cannot single out a person, although there are many who stepped up to help our Veterans, Our students, and our community.

WE are here to make our community a better place to live, and to help others in need.

Events/Programs/Successes for this year include:

Blood Drive

Oratorical Event with NBHS

JROTC scholarships

Local Elementary Schools

Brunswick Community College

The Rice Festival Participation

Brunswick Family Assistance

Wreaths Across America

Boy Scouts

American Flag Replacement Program

Working with the U.S.S. North Carolina on Flag etiquette.

Our Memorial Day Wreath Program

Buddy Poppy Program

VEAC Participation to assist Veterans with their VA Benefits

Small housing repairs for Veterans.

Honoring Law Enforcement Officers in the community.

To help the community be aware of Suicides in our community, state, and country.

So many people I speak to didn’t even know there was an American Legion Post in Leland.

Did not know who John E. Jacobs was.

They were very surprised we have NO building but they liked my explanation as to WHY we don’t need one.   OUR NEW PAO is helping to emphasize this message via Marketing and AD Campaigns.

There is a reason we are also a member of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.

To help welcome new businesses and to help recruit new members.

We are involved in our community, AND we are charged with helping our community grow.

It’s amazing how many people and businesses out there are grateful that we are here and helping and contributing!

My fingers are tired, and I know I have missed so much, but your post is in good hands with a strong and caring Post Executive Board.

Without them and without you, our members who care and work to make the Post be better and to enjoy one another, we would not be able to Honor JOHN E. JACOBS, and our Ideals of the AMERICAN Legion.

A New Year and New Events to help our Post grow AND to have some fun working with one another.  WE are Veterans, we make things happen.

Have a happy, safe, and enjoyable New Years weekend and we will see each other next year!
