THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY!

Thank you to our community for your support for veterans Post 68 American Legion

The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 membership is deeply appreciative of the invaluable support from the Leland area community. Your assistance has been instrumental in enabling us to provide our community service programs and fund-raising events. Your contributions have not only helped us grow and prosper but have also made a significant difference in the lives of our veterans and other community members.

Our second annual golf tournament, held at Magnolia Greens, has been a resounding success, thanks to the generous support of our local business community. Your sponsorships have enabled us to continue providing essential programs that support our local schools, veterans, and their families. These include student scholarship programs, the annual oratorical contest, and support for the JROTC program at North Brunswick High School. This year, we also sent funds and
supplies to Western North Carolina to aid in their recovery from the no-name storm. We are excited to begin planning for the Third Annual Golf Tournament, scheduled for November 6th.

Our collective efforts once again bore fruit as we raised over 700 Wreaths for the Wreaths Across America event at the Wilmington National Cemetery. This year, for the first time, we were able to honor ALL American Veterans interred there with a wreath. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our community’s spirit and dedication.

Thanks to our community support, we also sponsored several essential Red Cross Blood Drives and retired over 1,000 old flags this year.

Post 68 has taken the lead in North Carolina for managing the American Legion’s Suicide Awareness Program. With tremendous support from our local Service Providers and law enforcement members, we bring community awareness on the issue of veteran suicides and suicide prevention. Look for our NEW “BE THE ONE” Billboard on U.S. Route 17 in January 2025.

We live in a great area of North Carolina that continues to grow in leaps and bounds. People from all over our country have settled here for many reasons, and maybe the best thing is that we are a caring community. Life is good here.

As the most active and visible American Legion Post in the region, we owe our success to the unwavering support of our community. Your contributions have been invaluable, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you!
