The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post #68 Leland is kicking off an awareness campaign!
September 1 is the start of Suicide awareness month. We must prepare and raise awareness to save lives!
Ask a veteran in your life how they are doing. Listen when a veteran needs to talk. Reach out when a veteran is struggling.
If you are a veteran in crisis, resources are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

PsychArmor is an essential resource for anyone looking to serve those who have served. They have a comprehensive library of free military culture educational resources, including free courses on veteran suicide prevention.
- A.V.E.(Signs, Ask, Validate, Encourage & Expedite) is a course offered on PsychArmor developed in collaboration with VA that will help you understand the general problem of suicide in the United States, how to identify a Veteran who may be at risk for suicide, and information on what to do if you identify a Veteran at risk.
- Veterans can get ongoing support through local VA medical centers, Vet Centers, or Veterans Service Organizations in their community.
