In Flader’s Field by John McCrae…
The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post #68, Leland, Commander John Hacker is leading a drive to provide assistance to those in need by educating everyone about the new HELP LINE, “988 press 1“. He stated that, “The 988 press 1 Crisis Line is that roll of a combat medic (or Corpsman). When in battle and a soldier is wounded, we called a “Medic”. The Crisis Line acts like a medic in battle. The Crisis Line attempts to treat a potential veteran in crisis to seek the professional help they need. We seek service providers for additional tools to help a veteran who needs our help. Bottom line is if you suspect a veteran is in need you can contact the Crisis Line for that veteran. They will reach out to them and point them in the right direction. The Crisis Line is not just for those in need, it is also for all of us to use to refer those who we think need help. Your name is never mentioned as the source for the Crisis Line to contact the veteran. The VA is very proactive these days in trying to reach all those who need help.”
American Legion Post #68 want to promote Veteran Suicide Awareness during the upcoming Poppy Day May 26th and the Memorial Day Weekend. (See attached information)
